U.K. house prices up 0.2% in August: Halifax

LONDON (MarketWatch) — British house prices rose 0.2% in August and were up 4.6% compared to the same month last year, mortgage lender Halifax reported Wednesday. Economists had forecast a 0.5% monthly price drop. The rise followed a 0.7% monthly increase in July.
